RHAPSODY OF REALITIES HIS VIRTUE IN OUR SPIRITS Thursday, December 15th .

RHAPSODY OF REALITIES
 HIS VIRTUE IN OUR SPIRITS
Thursday, December 15th .
  Pastor Chris
That is why I would remind you to stir up (re-kindle the embers of, fan the flame of, and keep burning) the [gracious] gift of God, [the inner fire] that is in you by means of the laying on of my hands [with those of the elders at your ordination] (2 Timothy 1:6 AMP). As Christians, we’re not ordinary. Jesus said, “…as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you” (John 20:21). He gave us power and authority to minister and be a blessing to our world. Paul said, “…we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us” (2 Corinthians 4:7). We can minister to the sick, the oppressed, and depressed and have virtue go out from us to them. God’s power in us is to flow from us to those in need of God’s touch in their lives. This is why you take out time to stir up the power of the Spirit in you again and again; get yourself filled with the Spirit always! Ephesians 5:18 says, “…keep on being filled with the Spirit” (ISV); it’s not a one-off, but a continual experience. You’re to maintain the glow of the Spirit in your life; keep His fire burning in your spirit with unquenchable intensity. Be dressed and fully clothed with Him all the time. Before you hit the streets, “dress” in the Holy Ghost! Soak yourself in Him, and when you face a crisis, His power in you will be activated, for His glory. Stir that power always by speaking in tongues, meditating on the Word and living out the Word. His glory is in the Word; as you live in, by, and through the Word, you cause His glory and power to be manifested in and around you. Blessed be God! PRAYER Dear Father, I thank you for the presence of the Holy Spirit in my life, and the effectual workings of that power in and through me. Christ lives in me, and I’m His extension in the world today, to touch, heal, bless, strengthen and uplift. I take advantage of this divine privilege of manifesting the glorious virtues in my spirit to others, in Jesus’ Name. Amen. Kenneth Copeland’s daily devotional December 14, 2016 - No Deposit—No Return

Topic: No Deposit—No Return [December 14, 2016]  ...Blessed is the man that feareth the Lord, that delighteth greatly in his commandments.... He shall not be afraid of evil tidings: his heart is fixed, trusting in the Lord. - Psalm 112:1,7  Are you ready to face a crisis? Don't wait until one hits to find out. Prepare yourself now.  That's what a couple of my Partners did. They faced a situation that would have made many people panic. But when the crisis hit, their hearts were so deeply established on the Word of God that their first response was not one of fear but of faith.  What affected me most when I heard their testimony was one particular phrase they kept using:  No Deposit—No Return  What they meant by that was that if you don't take the time to deposit the Word in your heart now, it won't be there later when you really need it. You'll end up in a crisis with only doubt and unbelief instead of the faith and power you need to see you through. In a situation like the one this couple faced, that could be deadly.  You see, their 2-year-old son had suffered a fall that had cracked his skull and critically injured his neck. He had no feeling in his arms and legs and was unable to move. Yet as they rushed him to the emergency room, a great sense of peace rested on them. Rather than crying with fear, they prayed in faith and declared, "By Jesus' stripes, our son is healed!"  Sure enough, within hours, their boy was totally restored. Even the X-rays verified the fact that a miracle had taken place.  What's important to understand about that story is this: The victory was not won when the damage to that little boy's body disappeared. It was won all during the days and weeks and months before when his parents were listening to tapes and studying the Word and praying in the spirit. It was won because these people had spent time building a foundation on the Word so that when this storm came, they were able to stand.  Now is the time for you to build a rock-solid foundation! Don't wait around until you're faced with a crisis. Get the Word in your heart in abundance now, so when you really need it, it will flow out in power.  Remember: No deposit—no return.  Start making those precious deposits today!  Scripture Reading: Psalm 112  This message was written by Kenneth and Gloria Copeland, the leader of the Kenneth Copeland Ministries (www.KCM.org) that specializes in teaching principles of bible faith - prayer, healing, salvation and other biblical topics.

Our Daily Bread devotional, December 14, 2016 - Living in the Light

Topic: Living in the Light [December 14, 2016]  Read: 1 John 2:3–11, Bible in a Year: Joel 1–3; Revelation 5  The darkness is passing and the true light is already shining. 1 John 2:8  It was a dark morning. Low, steel-colored clouds filled the sky, and the atmosphere was so dim that I needed to turn on the lights in order to read a book. I had just settled in when the room suddenly filled with light. I looked up and saw that the wind was pushing the clouds to the east, clearing the sky and revealing the sun.  As I went to the window to get a better look at the drama, a thought came to mind: “The darkness is passing and the true light is already shining” (1 John 2:8). The apostle John wrote these words to believers as a message of encouragement. He went on to say, “Anyone who loves their brother and sister lives in the light, and there is nothing in them to make them stumble” (v. 10). By contrast, he equated hating people with roaming around in darkness. Hatred is disorienting; it takes away our sense of moral direction.  Loving people is not always easy. Yet I was reminded as I looked out the window that frustration, forgiveness, and faithfulness are all part of maintaining a deep connection with the love and light of God. When we choose love instead of hate, we are showing our relationship with Him and reflecting His radiance to the world around us. “God is light; in him there is no darkness at all” (1 John 1:5).  Prayer: Dear God, help me to experience Your love more fully so that I can share it with others. I want to live in the light of Your grace and mercy.  Choosing to love people well shows the world what God is like.  Insight:  Today’s passage has perplexed many believers. Is John teaching that if we have any hatred in our hearts, then we are not genuine believers? It is very important to understand a concept in Greek grammar in order to capture what the passage is saying. The verb tense used here means “continuous action in the present.” This means the verb could be paraphrased “continually hating.” Therefore, when John speaks of someone hating, he is talking about an unrepentant lifestyle of continuously living in hatred toward another. The authentic walk of faith is not a sinless walk, but one in which the believer feels uncomfortable with sin and reaches out to God for forgiveness and change.  This message was written by Jennifer Benson Schuldt [Our Daily Bread Ministries.]

Open Heavens 14 December 2016: Wednesday daily devotional by Pastor E. A. Adeboye – Proof of Love

Topic: Proof of Love [Wednesday 14, December 2016]
Memorise: Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. – John 15:13  Read: John 21:15-19 (KJV)  15 So when they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my lambs.  16 He saith to him again the second time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my sheep.  17 He saith unto him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep.  18 Verily, verily, I say unto thee, When thou wast young, thou girdedst thyself, and walkedst whither thou wouldest: but when thou shalt be old, thou shalt stretch forth thy hands, and another shall gird thee, and carry thee whither thou wouldest not.  19 This spake he, signifying by what death he should glorify God. And when he had spoken this, he saith unto him, Follow me.  Bible in One Year: Leviticus 1-3, Psalms 119:113-128  MESSAGE:  The Bible teaches Christians to love God. The Bible also teaches that such love should be expressed in worship and practical service. One of the most important lessons that the Bible teaches on love is that love is unconditional, and that the ultimate test of love is sacrifice. Therefore, any declaration of love that is devoid of sacrifice is questionable. The Bible is strongly in agreement with the fact that love is sacrificial.  “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” - John 3:16  When you are genuinely in love, making sacrifices for the one you love will be a thing of pleasure and not a burden. Jacob was in love with Rachel and asked her father what he must do to marry her. Rachel’s father told him to serve for seven years and he willingly did so. Because of his love, seven years were like seven days to him. When he was deceived, he yet agreed to serve another seven years for his heartthrob (Genesis 29:18-28). No price is too much to pay for the one you love. If you truly love your wife, you will pay the price of faithfulness in the midst of pressure to be unfaithful to her in your workplace, or even in the ministry. Some husbands are yet to demonstrate their love for their wives by sacrificially giving to her. If your relationship with your wife is all about convenience – you do things for her only when it is convenient, then you owe your wife big time. Wives of such husbands should demand of their husbands the debt of sacrifice.  Sacrifice help to gauge your love for God. We can say God loves us exceedingly because He was prepared to part with His only begotten Son. If you say you love God, you will be ready, like Paul was, to spend and be spent for Him. Some questions I often ask people are; can you serve the Lord for 14 years without pay? Can you serve the Lord in the rural areas with no social amenities? Can you serve under an uneducated man of God when you are well educated? Can you leave certainty for uncertainty in the name of vision and revelation? What do you have to show for your love for God? Where is the sacrifice in your relationship with the Lord?  Prayer Point: Father, please help me to fully appreciate Your sacrificial love for me.

DAILY BIBLE VERSE AND DEVOTION,

For being ignorant of the righteousness of God and seeking to establish their own righteousness, they did not submit to the righteousness of God. – Romans 10:3 (BLB)   Paul here is referring to the Jews in Jesus’ day. They were zealous for God but ignorant of how God wanted to make them righteous. They felt they needed to keep all the Old Testament laws in order to please God and therefore earn His righteousness. However, God’s plan was for them to submit to a new righteousness that would only take place by trusting in Jesus.  People fall into this trap today. Everyone has their own set of rules that makes them feel they earn points with God. When they do good, they feel they are able to be close to God and when they are not so good, they feel they cannot. These people are either out of touch or just ignorant of how God really makes a person righteous.  The only way one can be made right with God is by trusting in Jesus as their Savior and continuing to trust in what He has done is all we need to be right with God. We do not need to try and earn our way to God.  After trusting in Jesus and His righteousness, we can do good things for Him. However, we do good works because of what Jesus has done for us and not in order to be right with God.

Joel and Victoria Osteen’s daily devotional December , 2016 – Believing is Seeing

Today’s Scripture: “By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.” - (Hebrews 11:3, NKJV)  Topic: Believing is Seeing [December 12, 2016]  You were created by Almighty God to live a blessed and fulfilled life. But so many people live far below the level of what God truly intends for them simply because they don’t see how it could happen. The truth is that you have to believe before you’re ever going to see something take place in the natural. You have to look with your eyes of faith because the provision, healing and miracle that you need is already available in the supernatural realm.  You might say, “Well, I don’t know how to do that. I don’t know how to look with my eyes of faith.” The way you open your eyes of faith is by reading and meditating on the Word of God. His Word deposits strength and faith inside of you and illuminates your heart. His Word causes your faith to grow so you can believe His promises. And when you believe it, then you will see it because all things are possible for those who believe!  Today, feed your faith by meditating on His Word. Declare His promises over your life. Keep moving forward with an attitude of expectancy knowing that He has victory in store for your future!  A Prayer for Today: “Father, thank You for Your sweet and precious promises. I choose to open the eyes of my heart so that I can see and receive the good things You have for me. Help me to be a blessing to others and keep my mind stayed on You in Jesus’ name. Amen.”

Billy Graham’s daily devotional December 13, 2016 - What God Has Done

Topic: What God Has Done [December 13, 2016]  With everlasting kindness will I have mercy on thee, saith the Lord thy redeemer. — Isaiah 54:8  If God is all-powerful and all-loving, it would seem inconsistent with His nature to allow anyone to be lost. Here again we rationalize because we do not understand the nature of God. God cannot go against His own laws and against His own nature. God is holy. He cannot tolerate sin in His presence. He created us free to choose how we would live. He invites us to come His way, but leaves us free to pursue our own ends with tragic, natural consequences. We glibly say, “Surely a loving God would not allow a person He loves to be lost. He just wouldn’t allow it.” Far from allowing it, God has done everything He can to prevent it! Talk about love! “God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son . . . ” This is good news. Because of what God in love has done for us, we need not be lost.  Prayer for the day: Almighty God, your magnanimous love is felt in my life, as I live each day through the grace of Your Son, Jesus Christ.  Written by Billy Graham, Founder of Billy Graham Evangelistic Association(BGEA). Our Daily Bread devotional, December 13, 2016 - Good News!

Topic: Good News! [December 13, 2016]  Read: Nahum 1:7–15, Bible in a Year: Hosea 12–14; Revelation 4  Look, there on the mountains, the feet of one who brings good news, who proclaims peace! Nahum 1:15  World news bombards us from the Internet, television, radio, and mobile devices. The majority seems to describe what’s wrong—crime, terrorism, war, and economic problems. Yet there are times when good news invades the darkest hours of sadness and despair—stories of unselfish acts, a medical breakthrough, or steps toward peace in war-scarred places.  The words of two men recorded in the Old Testament of the Bible brought great hope to people weary of conflict.  While describing God’s coming judgment on a ruthless and powerful nation, Nahum said, “Look, there on the mountains, the feet of one who brings good news, who proclaims peace!” (Nah. 1:15). That news brought hope to all those oppressed by cruelty.  A similar phrase occurs in the book of Isaiah: “How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation” (Isa. 52:7).  Nahum and Isaiah’s prophetic words of hope found their ultimate fulfillment at the first Christmas when the angel told the shepherds, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord” (Luke 2:10–11).  The most important headline in our lives every day is the very best news ever spoken—Christ the Savior is born!  The birth of Jesus is the best news the world has ever received!  Insight:  We can associate “good news” of peace from war (Nahum 1:15) with the “good news” of Jesus’s birth (Luke 2:10). We might imagine a huffing, puffing runner (in Nahum 1:15)—like the famed runner to Sparta for whom “marathon” is named—who has come a long distance. Is he now pausing “on the mountains” to shout to hearers in the valley, “The war is over!”? No wonder the herald’s “feet” are celebrated—he “proclaims peace!” (1:15). In Old Testament thought “peace” (shalom) is not just the absence of war; it is a full-orbed idea that represents wellness and wholeness. Have you received the Christ who Himself, through His death, is the believer’s peace? (Eph. 2:14–15).  This message was written by David McCasland [Our Daily Bread Ministries.]

Meditate On His Love · tuesday ·

Meditate On His Love · tuesday ·    Meanwhile these three remain: faith, hope, and love; and the greatest of these is love (1 Corinthians 13:13 GNB).   Mark Chapter 5 tells the story of a certain woman who suffered haemorrhage for twelve long years, but was made whole by Jesus. Her audacity of faith must have come from what she heard about Jesus: that He radiated, manifested, and expressed the love of the Father. She must have heard how Jesus restored sight to the blind, raised the dead, made the lame to walk, and even restored maimed limbs. She must have been inspired to hear how He spoke loving words to the hurting, the rejected, downtrodden, and broken-hearted.  She was therefore convinced that Jesus wouldn’t reject her if she came to Him. Thus, she pressed through the crowd at the risk of her life to get to Him. Remember, the Law forbade her to have physical contact with others; she’d have been stoned to death if discovered, for daring to appear in public in her condition. But she had heard that the Master touched and healed lepers: outcasts that were ostracised by society. This most certainly lifted her spirit and rekindled hope within her that she could be well again.  In the account rendered in the Book of Matthew 9:21, the Message translation says, "She was thinking to herself, ‘If I can just put a finger on his robe, I’ll get well...." Notice that it started with a thought. She thought she wouldn’t even need Him to notice her; she could as well tap into that love-power. She did, and she was healed instantly.  What are your thoughts about the Master? Do you consciously meditate on how much He loves you? Everything Jesus is and represents is love. His miracles that we read about in the Bible were all love-inspired. His communication and actions pointed everyone to the Father’s love. He was the revelation of God’s love. He said in John 15:9 (MSG), "I’ve loved you the way my Father has loved me. Make yourselves at home in my love." He’s saying, "Meditate on my love; stay and be at rest therein!" His unrivalled and unconditional love for you should provoke in you such audacity of faith always.   Prayer  Dear Lord Jesus, thank you for showing me the true nature of the Father, which is Love. I meditate, embrace, and take advantage of His love today, which in turn is expressed in and through me to everyone in my world; your love in me continually compels me to reach out to heal and bless others around me. Amen.  further study: 1 John 4:7-10; John 3:16   : R evelation 5 Joel 1-3  : R evelation 12:11-17 Micah 3-4

Glory In A Dry Land · monday Dec 2016

Glory In A Dry Land · monday ·
For the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea (Habakkuk 2:14).   The Lord testified of David that he was a man after His own heart (Acts 13:22). When you study about David, you’ll discover he was so passionate about the glory of God. The pursuit of his soul was to have and to see the glory of God. In Psalm 63:1-2, he said, "O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is; To see thy power and thy glory, so as I have seen thee in the sanctuary."  What a declaration! He described the land as "a dry and thirsty land, where no water is." "Water," in this context, typifies the Spirit of God. "A dry and thirsty land" typifies a place that’s destitute of the Spirit of God; a desolate land. David saw in the visions of God that in the sanctuary of God, there’s glory, and there’s power; so he yearned to see the same glory in a land destitute of the Spirit of God.  That tells us something; it makes no difference what obtains in the city or nation where you live or the demons in that particular region that hold sway over men’s lives; you can seek the manifestation of the glory of God in that place. It doesn’t matter the wickedness that has festered or the hunger, depravity, terror, and fear that have kept men in bondage; in that "dry and thirsty" land, you can establish the glory of God.  You do this through intercession and proclamation of the Word. Get filled with the Spirit and proclaim the Word over such countries, regions, cities, and towns. Don’t be quiet; keep at it until the anointing wells up in you to proclaim the Word of God that’ll change things. Under that unction, declare with boldness that the glory of God in the Gospel of Christ fills that land. Soon enough, the light of God’s Word that brings salvation, deliverance, and prosperity will shine brightly in those hitherto dark regions, and there’ll be a great harvest of souls. Hallelujah!   Prayer  Dear Father, thank you for the glorious light of your Gospel that’s beaming intensely on the dark places of the earth, bringing salvation, deliverance, prosperity, and imparting righteousness to the spirits of men. I declare that your glory covers the earth, lighting men’s lives to do your will, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

DECEMBER 12 Replacing the Shadows Devotional by John Piper

DECEMBER 12
Replacing the Shadows  Devotional by John Piper    Now the point in what we are saying is this: we have such a high priest, one who is seated at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in heaven, a minister in the holy places, in the true tent that the Lord set up, not man.(Hebrews 8:1–2)  The point of the book of Hebrews is that Jesus Christ, God’s Son, has not just come to fit into the earthly system of priestly ministry as the best and final human priest, but he has come to fulfill and put an end to that system and to orient all our attention on himself ministering for us in heaven.  The Old Testament tabernacle and priests and sacrifices were shadows. Now the reality has come, and the shadows pass away.  Here’s an Advent illustration for kids — and those of us who used to be kids and remember what it was like. Suppose you and your mom get separated in the grocery store, and you start to get scared and panic and don’t know which way to go, and you run to the end of an aisle, and just before you start to cry, you see a shadow on the floor at the end of the aisle that looks just like your mom. It makes you really happy and you feel hope. But which is better? The happiness of seeing the shadow, or having your mom step around the corner and it’s really her?  That’s the way it is when Jesus comes to be our High Priest. That’s what Christmas is. Christmas is the replacement of shadows with the real thing. Posted by Everyday Devotionals at 06:27 N

JESUS’ AUTHORITY HAS BEEN GIVEN TO US - Dec 12 - 2016

 12 Dec 2016
Matthew 28:18–19
And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore…    When God created man, He gave man authority to have dominion over everything on earth. (Genesis 1:26) But when man sinned, he gave this authority to Satan. And when man's authority was transferred to Satan, Satan brought in diseases, poverty, strife, bitterness, pain, loss and death. He messed up everything on earth for man.  "Pastor Prince, why didn't God just grab the devil by the neck and throw him out of the garden?" God did not do that because He is a judicial God. It was a man who gave away his authority to Satan. So it had to be a man who would legally take it back. And God has done this through a Man. His name is Jesus!  By His death on the cross, Jesus righteously restored all that man had lost. That is why, just before He went back to heaven, He said, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore…” Those words tell us that He has transferred His authority to us. The same authority that He had over the storm, evil spirits, sicknesses, diseases and even death is now ours to use.  So when there are reports of a flu epidemic and of young children falling sick in the media, know that you have dominion over the epidemic. Declare, “By the authority given to me in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, this flu virus will not come near my children. I plead the blood of Jesus over them.”  If you have been told that your family has a history of heart disease, take dominion and declare, “By the authority given to me in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, I destroy every form, manifestation and hereditary cause of this disease. By His blood, my family has been redeemed from this and every other curse.”  My friend, the authority which has been restored to us is not just the authority on earth which man had before the fall, but Jesus’ unquestionable and complete authority in heaven and on earth! Thought For The Day  The same authority that Jesus had over the storm, evil spirits, sicknesses, diseases and even death is now ours to use.

Kenneth Copeland’s daily devotional December 12, 2016 - Tune In

Topic: Tune In [December 12, 2016]
He that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries. - 1 Corinthians 14:2  Have you ever looked around at your own life or the life of the Church and wondered why it's taking the Lord so long to get things in order?  If so, let me tell you something I learned a few years ago. He's not the One who's slow. We are!  It's not God's fault that the Church still has spots and wrinkles. It's not His fault that we're not living in total victory. He's always ready. He's the great "I AM." We're the ones who fall short.  Compare it to turning on a radio. If you don't have it tuned to exactly the right frequency, you won't be able to hear the station. It's not the station's fault. It's sending out signals perfectly. The problem is, you haven't tuned in to it.  That's what's happening with you and me. We haven't fine tuned our spirits enough to pick up the voice of the Spirit. Oh, we pick up a few things now and then, but mostly we just fade in and out. We don't stay on God's wavelength all the time.  How do you adjust your spiritual tuner?  By praying in the spirit. Praying in other tongues is the fastest, most effective method I know of to tune in to God—because instead of praying your own thoughts and plans, you're praying His!  The Bible says that when you pray in tongues, you're speaking mysteries to God. In the spirit, you're calling forth parts of God's plan you don't even understand with your natural mind. By the unction of the Holy Spirit, you're praying the perfect will of God.  You see, God knows how to deliver His people. He knows how to turn us into the glorious Church without spot or wrinkle. He has a plan that will do it. And if we'll tap in to that plan and start releasing it into the earth by praying in the spirit, praying according to His will and not our own, this age will draw to a close quickly. If we'll all get our minds and hearts in tune with what God's doing, there will be an explosion of the power of God that will turn this world around!  Start adjusting your spiritual tuner today. Spend an hour praying in other tongues. Set your spirit on God's wavelength and just see how quickly the spots and wrinkles begin to disappear from you.  Scripture Reading: 1 Corinthians 14:1-19

Billy Graham’s daily devotional December 12, 2016 - Loving One Another

Topic: Loving One Another [December 12, 2016]  And the Lord make you to increase and abound in love one toward another, and toward all men . . . — 1 Thessalonians 3:12  One of the growing psychological problems facing people today is loneliness. One of the greatest ministries that a person can have today is just being a good listener. Many people are longing not only to be loved but to have someone who will listen to them. When we love God with all our hearts, then we have the capacity to love our neighbor. The greatest need in the world today is not more science, not more social engineering, not more teaching, not more knowledge, not more power, not even more preaching—the greatest need we have today is for love. And the only way that love can be supplied is by a supernatural act of the Holy Spirit that transforms lives.  The love that God gives is not the ordinary love that we find in the world today. When we love our neighbors, it is not our loving with natural love, it is God loving through us. If you are willing to do this, God will give you His love.  Prayer for the day: I love You, Jesus. How often I take for granted Your immeasurable act of love for me upon the cross. Help me to keep my eyes fixed on You, that through Your supreme example I can reach out to my neighbor.  Written by Billy Graham, Founder of Billy Graham Evangelistic Association(BGEA). DCLM Daily Manna December 12, 2016 by Pastor Kumuyi – Wanted: Absolute Turn Around

Text: Isaiah 28:22-29  Key Verse: "This also cometh forth from the LORD of hosts, which is wonderful in counsel, and excellent in working" (Isaiah 28:29).  A man recently lost his life because of his inability to heed simple health advice from his physician. He had the problem of alcoholism and was severally warned, in his own interest, to desist from the habit. Even when he had been diagnosed with liver problem (cirrhosis), he continued in his drunkenness until he was eventually slain by the evil habit. Whatever sin a man cherishes, if he does not repent, such is likely to lead him into some terrible and more complicated problems.  This was the point Prophet Isaiah wanted to make to sinning Israel. He had called to remembrance, the goodness of God to Israel and the folly of hypocrisy by the people. He had reminded them that if they continued to harden their hearts, God would consume them in his wrath. Isaiah warned them of the unfruitfulness of continuing in their mockery of the word of God (verse 22). The prophet reminded them that being in captivity was not even the worst form of punishment, but that the Almighty was capable of making their bands stronger and could wipe them away from the face of the earth if they did not repent. This captures the situation of some believers today who, though are passing through some challenges purely brought about by their disobedience to God, still remain obstinate in their folly.  Rather than repent and pray for forgiveness they begin to heap iniquity upon iniquity thereby attracting more punishment unto themselves. If you are in this category, you have the opportunity today to repent and seek God's mercy. And He will abundantly pardon. For everyone graciously emancipated from sin, how we need to thread carefully the paths of this life which has the capacity to make the unwary miss the mark.  Thought for the day: He who avoids sin like the proverbial plague is wise.  Bible Reading in one Year: 2 & 3 John
